چکیده

The Kansai BNCT Medical Center has a cyclotron based epithermal neutron source for clinical Boron Neutron Capture Therapy. system accelerates proton to an energy of 30 MeV which strikes beryllium target producing fast neutrons are moderated down use. While studies in the past have shown be highly effective malignant melanoma skin, apply superficial lesions using this it is necessary shift thermal distribution so that maximum dose occurs near surface. A shifter was designed fit inside collimator further moderate increase surface and reduce underlying normal tissue. Pure polyethylene selected, Monte Carlo simulation performed determine optimum thickness slab. Compared with original beam, increased flux at skin by approximately 4 times. measured simulated central axis depth off were found good agreement. 2 cm thick water equivalent bolus, 26% obtained, would treatment time 29%. DDS safe, simple tool tumours if initially beam requires moderation maximise tissue

Investigation the potential of Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) to treat the lung cancer

Introduction: Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is recommended to treat the glioblastoma tumor. It is well known that neuron beams are more effective treatment than photon beams to treat hypoxia tumors due to interaction of neutron with nucleus and production of heavy particles such as 7Li and alpha particle. In this study to evaluate the suitability of BNCT for treating of ...

Development of a Tomographic System for Online Dose Measurements in BNCT (Boron Neutron Capture Therapy)

Within our activities on accelerator-based boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) carried out at the Tandar Laboratory (Comisión Nacional de Energı́a Atómica, Argentina) we present here the study and design of a tomographic imaging system for the measurement of the spatial distribution of the absorbed dose during a BNCT session. The 10B(n,α)7Li boron neutron capture reaction produces a 478 keV gam...

A Monte Carlo study of SPECT in boron neutron capture therapy for a heterogeneous human phantom

Background: Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is a binary radiotherapy combining biochemical targeting with neutron irradiation. However, monitoring the boron distribution is a fundamental problem in BNCT. Prompt gamma rays emitted by boron capture reaction can be used to address the issue. Materials and Methods: The general-purpose Monte Carlo toolkits Geant4 and MCNP were used for the simu...
